LYNDON — Two Russell residents were killed about 12:30 p.m. Friday when the car they were in was struck head-on by a van on U.S. Highway 75, six miles south of Lyndon in Osage County.
Joyce L. Miller, 66, the driver of the car, and Carol A. Miller, 70, were killed in the crash, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report.
Miller was driving south on U.S. 75 when a van driven by Richard D. Basinger, 78, of Lyndon, crossed the center line on a curve and struck her vehicle. Basinger, who was wearing a seat belt, was listed on the report as being injured, but the report didn’t indicate where he was taken.
A passenger in Miller’s car, Dolores J. Keenan, 76, of Russell, was taken to Stormont Vail in Topeka. A report on her condition wasn’t available. She was wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
The report indicated that Joyce Miller was wearing a seat belt, and Carol Miller was not wearing a seat belt.
