Saline County sheriff’s deputies Saturday arrested a McPherson man who was accused of pointing a handgun at another man.
According to Saline County Sheriff Glen Kochanowski, James Bowden, 23, of Salina, and Erika Peterson, 20, of Lindsborg, were assisting Michael Godwin, 34, of McPherson early Saturday morning in rural Saline County near Gypsum.
Bowden told deputies that he offered an intoxicated Godwin a ride in his truck, while Peterson followed them in her car. While in the truck, Bowden told authorities, Godwin allegedly pulled out a gun and pointed it at him.
Bowden hit the brakes, jumped out of the truck and fled with Peterson in her car, Kochanowski said.
About 3:45 a.m., deputies were called to the 8400 block of East Tinkler Road, where they found Bowden’s truck overturned in a ditch. Godwin was arrested on multiple charges that included aggravated assault and criminal threat. A handgun was recovered.
