Wittman joins staff at South

By LARRY MORITZ | Salina Journal

Jim Wittman will be coaching football again, although under a different title at a different school.

Wittman, who resigned last month as head football coach at Sacred Heart High School, has accepted an assistant coaching position with the Salina South football team for the 2010 season. His hiring was approved at Tuesday night’s Salina school board meeting.

Wittman was the Knights head coach for nine seasons before announcing June 18 that he was resigning his teaching and coaching position following a disagreement with Sacred Heart administrators over the hiring of an assistant coach. Wittman said at the time he hoped to coach again in the near future.
