A 17-year-old Central High School student was arrested after a 14-year-old girl was battered Wednesday at the school, police said.
Jerae R. Martin, 1035 Gypsum, was taken to the Saline County Juvenile Detention Center.
About 1 p.m. the school’s police officer was told about a fight occurring in the school’s upper hallway.
The younger student, who was taken to the school nurse, suffered scratches on her neck, bruising and swelling around her eyes and a cut on her lip and complained of pain in her right hand and right rib area, said Salina police Capt. Mike Sweeney.
Sweeney said Martin allegedly walked up to the 14-year-old and verbally threatened her, saying something like, “This is what you get for snitching on my sister.” Martin’s sister was arrested March 3 for allegedly battering the same victim, Sweeney said.
Sweeney said that after threatening the younger girl, Martin kicked and stomped the victim and tried to push her down the stairs. The younger girl was later taken by her mother to be treated in the emergency department at Salina Regional Health Center.
