Teen accused of attempted burglary of cars
A 16-year-old Salina boy was arrested, accused of being one of two people seen attempting to burglarize cars on East Beloit Avenue early Wednesday.
Darius Peterson, 1525 Hickory, was arrested after he returned to the area of the attempted burglaries and drove off in a vehicle that a witness had seen the burglars arrive in, said Capt. Mike Sweeney.
Sweeney said police were called at 12:24 a.m. Wednesday by someone who had seen a car pull up and two people begin trying to enter cars parked in the 500 block of East Beloit Avenue. The witness yelled at the burglars and they ran, Sweeney said.
Peterson returned to his vehicle at about 1 a.m. and was arrested after a traffic stop, Sweeney said. Further arrests are expected as the investigation continues, he said.
