Police were called to the parking lot at Dillons, 511 E. Iron, Monday morning, where they found a woman who appeared to have been beaten and seemed to be going in and out of consciousness.
Salina Deputy Police Chief Carson Mansfield said the 48-year-old woman was taken to the emergency department at Salina Regional Health Center for treatment shortly after the call came at 10 a.m.
Mansfield said the car was first seen at Dillons at 5 a.m., and police believe the incident occurred around that time.
The woman was sitting in the driver’s seat of a car. Her face and forehead appeared to be bruised, scratched and swollen, and additional injuries were observed on her chest, back, arms and legs, Mansfield said.
Mansfield said police continue to investigate.
