Kansas Wesleyan's Stephanie Frost has been named to the all-Kansas Conference women's first team. Three other Coyotes also were recognized.

Frost, a junior forward from Assaria, was also a first-team selection a year ago and leads KWU in scoring (10.1 points) and rebounding (5.9) per game.

Sophomore forward Christian Cassity was named honorable mention. Cassity, a Springtown, Texas native, averages 7.4 points while shooting 43.3 percent from the field and 37 percent from 3-point range.

Senior guard Montric Santee was named to the all-Defensive Team. Santee, a Little Elm, Texas, product, averages 2.4 steals, third-best in the KCAC, and also averages 3.7 assists.

Vanessa Kresin was named to the all-Freshman Team. Kresin, who hails from Glen Elder, averages 7.1 points and 4.5 rebounds.

"I normally feel like if you've done better in the conference you deserve more people," KWU coach Gordon Reimer said. "When you finish third like we did, it's a hard argument to say you deserve more."

Reimer said the Coyotes' offensive balance worked against them.

"Probably what hurt us more than anything is we don't have one or two people who are big scorers, people who average 18 or 20 points a game," he said. "We have seven girls who are all about the same at eight or nine points a game.

"Individually, any of those seven could score 20 points a game, but it changes every night."

Bethany was represented by Tasha Wagoner, who was named honorable mention. Wagoner, a junior from Colby, averaged a team-best 12.2 points.

Southwestern's Brett Bates was selected Player of the Year, Abby Fawcett of Friends the Newcomer of the Year and Brittany Pittas of McPherson the Freshman of the Year.

RaeAnne Boothe of Friends and Southwestern's Dave Denly were chosen Co-Coaches of the Year.

The all-KCAC men's teams will be announced today.

A complete list of the teams is in today's Scoreboard, page C2.
