George E. "Ed" Trow Jr.

George E. "Ed" Trow Jr., 86, Salina, died Thursday, May 8, 2008.

Mr. Trow was born Feb. 16, 1922, in Bennington, the son of Rebenea (Swift) and George E. Trow Sr. He worked as an automotive mechanic and served as a corporal in the Army Air Corps, 49th Fighter Control Squadron, for four years in the Philippines during WWII. For this service, he received the Bronze Service Award, WWII Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel F. Trow, and sister, Dixie Schissler. He is survived by sons, Dennis, Rex and Guy; daughters, Charlotte Weis and husband Gary L., Rita Rose and Connie Beets; brother, Clifford; sister, Cleo Herrington; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Greenville Cemetery, Niles. Burial procession will leave at 1 p.m. from Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to VFW Post 1432, in care of the mortuary.
