Dr. Stanford D. Splitter
OAKLAND, Calif. -- Dr. Stanford D. Splitter, 88, died October 20, 2007, in Oakland, CA. He was born January 19, 1919, near Lorraine, Kansas, to Louis B. and Anna Kroesch Splitter. He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1940 and University of Kansas Medical School in 1944. A physician, he started a medical practice in Berkeley, CA, in 1950, retiring in 1991. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Medical Corps, serving in Panama. On December 11, 1943, he married Janet Stoltenberg in Kansas City. He was preceded in death by brothers, Karl and Vernon; sister, Ethel Mehl; and nieces, Clarissa Splitter Pound and Ann Marie Mehl Thomas. Survivors include his wife, Dr. Janet Splitter, Oakland, CA; brother, Earl Splitter, Plantation, FL; nephews, Dr. Gary Splitter, Melvin Splitter and Wayne Mehl; and nieces, Rosalie Splitter, Marianne Splitter and Eleanor Splitter.
Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2008, at First Baptist Church, Lorraine, with Rev. George Redington presiding. Inurnment will be in First Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials to American Heart Association, 426 17th St., Suite 300, Oakland, CA 94612. Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth, is handling arrangements.
