Woman injured in crash near Ellsworth

ELLSWORTH — A woman was injured Sunday when a pickup and car collided at an intersection three miles north of Ellsworth.

Diane M. Hamakawa, 50, Wilbraham, Mass., the driver of the car, was taken to Ellsworth County Hospital. Her condition was not released.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that Larry L. Baecht, 68, Ellsworth, was southbound on 17th Road and the car driven by Hamakawa was southbound on Kansas Highway 156. Baecht stopped at the intersection and then pulled onto the highway, colliding with the car at 3:38 p.m.

Baecht was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
