nTornado cleanup continued Tuesday as trucks from Chapman and those from several towns and counties, including the Kansas Department of Transportation, lined up for loads.
"The debris removal is going extremely well. We've got over 30 trucks in town," Brad Homman, director of administration and emergency services for Dickinson County, said Tuesday morning.
The trucks hauled 230 loads, bringing the total to more than 600 loads removed. The debris is being taken to the county landfill and a construction landfill, Homman said.
"It's beginning to take shape," said Doug Thompson, Chapman city attorney.
The crews were working on Marshall, the main north-south street into town. Dozers, loaders and backhoes were involved in the operation.
Homman said the bulk of the debris removal will be complete by Friday afternoon, but there will be more moved to the curbside by property owners.
"There's a tremendous amount of progress being made," Thompson said. "Once that's done, each step gets a bit easier."
