Chamber survey shows support for proposed pool

Dennis Lauver said the goal of a “very unscientific survey” taken at the Tri-Rivers Fair was to gauge opinion on three issues, a proposed new swimming pool for Salina being one of them.
But he would gladly accept the results of responses from 100 people, with 63 favoring a new pool, 16 undecided but leaning toward “yes,” and 21 against it.
The survey, taken during last week’s fair by the Visit Salina office of the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce, asked several questions in an attempt to gauge travel habits, favorite future Visit Salina events, and interest in volunteering, said Lauver, the chamber’s president and chief executive officer.
“It was all stuff that will help us market Salina as a travel location,” he said.

VOTE YES! says....
VOTE YES! period! There is no qualified reason to vote no! Salina offers so little for families and youth! The concern of the City Commissioners typically is some material object, bridge, lights, traffic signals... so much so they overlook routine maitenance. I am willing to pay a small percentage to see a new pool aquatic center built here!

I feel we need a new pool, but an aquatic center is of out touch!!! To many people are on fixed incomes so with that, I will not vote yes in November. Be reasonable in your decisions for heaven sakes!!!
