Play Day in Park set for Friday

The 33rd Annual Play Day in the Park will be from noon-4 p.m. Friday at Oakdale Park, sponsored by the Salina Parks and Recreation Department.

Free hot dogs, chips, watermelon, ice cream bars, popsicles and soft drinks will be available beginning at noon.

Entertainment events scheduled for the Eric Stein Stage include pre-event music by Van’s German Band from 11:30 a.m. to noon; an opening ceremony from noon to 12:15 p.m. featuring the National Anthem, Pledge of Allegiance and a poetry reading by Norma Linenberger; a Salina Municipal Band concert from 12:15 to 1 p.m., featuring vocals by the Salina Chorale; Jazz Seven, a high school jazz ensemble, 1-2 p.m.; Parks and Recreation cheerleaders and twirlers, 2-2:30 p.m.; and Parks and Recreation belly dance classes 2:30-3 p.m.

There also will be more than 20 old-fashioned games with free buttons, balloons and prizes. For more information, call 309-5765.
