It appears the Kansas State Wildcats are catching on to Ron Prince's annual pre-camp conditioning test.
Only three Wildcat veterans -- all of them linemen -- failed to pass the test and were placed on the physically unable to perform list before Monday's first fall football practice.
The list -- by far the shortest in Prince's three seasons -- included senior center Jordan Bedore, an offensive captain, sophomore defensive tackle Xzavier Stewart and redshirt freshman defensive end Raphael Guidry.
The test consists of a series of sprints with time standards set by position.
Last year's most notable member of the PUP list was quarterback Josh Freeman, who passed on the first try this time.
The players who came up short have a chance to retake the test every day and upon passing will immediately return to practice.
The Wildcats opened camp Monday with 42 returning lettermen, including 14 regular starters, from last year's 5-7 team. Of the lettermen, 28 made at least one start.
The Wildcats open their season at home Aug. 30 against North Texas. Kickoff for the game, which will feature the 2008 Ring of Honor induction, is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
The one opportunity for the general public to see the team before the opener will be this Saturday, when players and coaches are available for autographs along the east concourse of Bill Snyder Family Stadium. The autograph session for fans will take place from 4-6 p.m. and will be in conjunction with Media Day activities.
