Print this story DARRIN STINEMAN City crews on Tuesday completed their first pass through the city collecting downed limbs from the December ice storm, the city of Salina announced through a press release. The second pass is under way and will work from north to south. Areas of collection will include streets north of the railroad tracks north of North Street, west of Ninth Street and south of Cloud. Other areas of town will not receive a second pass because ample time was allowed to get limbs out for the first pass. Burning of limbs at the Markley Road yard-waste disposal site began on Tuesday and will continue for several weeks, said Mike Fraser, director of public works for the city of Salina. “We’re looking at other options to possibly burn on weekends or at night if we believe weather conditions will keep us from meeting our May 1 objective to be able to complete the burn,” Fraser said. Free resident drop-off still is allowed at the Markley site and at the landfill. Contractors, however, are only allowed to dump limbs at the landfill.
