Chocolate is the focus of Alton festival

ALTON -- All things chocolate are the focus of the seventh annual Chocolate Festival set for Dec. 1 at Hardman Hall in Alton, the birthplace of Russell Stover.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top two placers in the adult and youth divisions of the cookie contest. Each entry of a baker's dozen -- 13 cookies -- should include at least one chocolate ingredient and the recipe. Entries are due between 9 and 10 a.m. Dec. 1, or before 3 p.m. Nov. 30 at the Osborne County Extension office, Osborne.

The festival, which begins at 10 a.m., will include a chocolate bake sale, live music, Christmas Bingo, chocolate cake walks and youth cupcake walks. Pony cart rides will be offered from 1 to 2 p.m., weather permitting.

The festival will close at 2 p.m. with drawings for an "I love Chocolate" bear for adults and a Russell Stover Looney Toons bank for youth.

For more information, call Wilda Carswell, (785) 984-2341.
