Railroad special agent part of meth bust

SHARON MONTAGUE

The special agent for the Union Pacific Railroad Police Department pulled over the car because the driver failed to stop at a stop sign at a railroad crossing.

But three hours later, blowing past a stop sign was the least of the driver’s worries.

A search of the car’s trunk revealed suspected material used to make methamphetamine, as well as an explosive device that was detonated by officials with the Fort Riley explosive ordnance disposal team.

It all started, special agent Wade Isaacson said, with his dog.

“I’m a K-9 officer, and I had let the dog out to relieve himself,” Isaacson said. “I got him back in the vehicle and was fixing to leave when I saw the car.”

For more on this arrest and how the railroad officer was involved in a criminal matter, read reporter Sharon Montague's story in Tuesday's Salina Journal.
