PORTIS — At any given time, up to 15 law enforcement officers might be working on the investigation into the March 25 murder of Jeffery “Scott” Noel, 55 — tracking down vehicles, questioning possible suspects or chasing other leads.
The Osborne County Sheriff’s Office has received more than 200 tips in more than a week, Sgt. Jack Ennis said, but still, no arrests have been made.
“We’re in the process of following a bunch of leads,” Ennis said. “That’s really all I can tell you. We’re still inundated with things, and we’re filtering through the tips and doing follow-up.”
Noel was found dead in his home about two miles southeast of Portis about 4 p.m. March 25. Authorities believe he was killed by more than one intruder sometime between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and said the house might have been burglarized. Authorities think a nearby house could have been burglarized by the same people.
