Soup supper, silent auction to benefit Hoxie teen

TIM UNRUH

HOXIE — A soup supper and silent auction for Taunie Sealock are planned for Sunday at the Hoxie Christian Church.

A senior at Hoxie High School, Sealock was injured in November in a car crash and is wheelchair bound. She has the use of her hands and upper body. After three months in rehabilitation at Craig Hospital, Englewood, Colo., she returned home Feb. 27. She is the daughter of Les and Darla Sealock, Hoxie.

“We have hopes that someday Taunie may somehow be able to walk again,” said Janelle Cooper. She is among Taunie Sealock’s adult leaders in Reborn and Redeemed, a nondenominational church youth group in Hoxie.

The churches of Hoxie and the Hoxie Elks Lodge have organized the Sunday benefit for Taunie.

The soup supper is from 5 to 8 p.m. and includes chili, clam chowder, chicken noodle and vegetable beef soups with crackers, relishes, drinks and desserts. The silent auction will run from 3 to 7:30 p.m. To donate an item, call the Hoxie Elks at (785) 675-3161.
