Fowler to run for Saline County Commission

DARRIN STINEMAN

Jerry Fowler, who was Saline County’s director of public works from 1991 to 2005, has filed to run for a seat on the Saline County Commission.

Fowler, 67, rural Smolan, said he has received a lot of encouragement to run, and there is much he would like to change about county government.

“It looked to me like we need to make some changes to the way Saline County government’s being run,” said Fowler, a Republican. “We need to bring back some trust in leadership to the government. It just seems to be struggling in that respect.”

The deadline to file is June 10, and the primary election is set for Aug. 5. The general election is Nov. 4.

Fowler will be running for the District 3 seat, which currently is occupied by Sherri Barragree.
