Zoo selling gourmet chocolates for Valentine's Day

Rolling Hills to sell gourmet chocolates

On Valentine's Day, staff from Rolling Hills Wildlife Adventure will be delivering "True Love Truffles," gourmet chocolates made fresh and handcrafted at Rolling Hills Zoo's Overlook Restaurant, to sweethearts all over Salina.

The treats are packaged and "wildly" decorated in a box of eight: two each of Irish cream, cherry cordial, hazelnut and cafe latte. A box of eight is $15.

The truffles can be ordered through 5 p.m. Feb. 11. Delivery is limited to the Salina city limits, but orders can be picked up at the wildlife museum ticket booth on Feb. 14 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Orders can be placed by calling 827-9488 or online at www.rollinghillswildlife.com.

Sales of the truffles raise funds to help cover the costs of veterinary equipment and supplies for Rolling Hills Wildlife Adventure.

Event to offer free financial aid help

High school seniors thinking about going to college can get free help with financial aid applications and a chance to win a $500 scholarship at two different locations in north-central Kansas on Feb. 10.

College Goal Sunday is from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 10 at Cloud County Community College and in 129 Peters Science Hall at Kansas Wesleyan University

The events are coordinated by the Kansas Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, and are two of 19 around the state on that day. At each location, four $500 scholarships will be awarded for the college or trade school of the winner's choice.

Those participating are encouraged, but not required, to bring their parents, 2007 tax returns, and their Free Application for Federal Student Aid ID number.
