ABILENE -- A Military Families Appreciation Day will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 3 at the Abilene National Guard Armory.
The National Guard climbing wall, various military vehicles and displays, a paintball event and picnic/potluck are free to military families regardless of the military branch or whether their loved ones are deployed or in active military or reserves.
Families are asked to bring a dish. Place settings, hot dogs, hamburgers, buns and condiments will be provided. The event is hosted by the Military Families Loved Ones Group and the Kansas National Guard.
The Armory is near Sterl Hall and the fairgrounds in Abilene.
