GOP convention delegates to be chosen

GOP delegates to be chosen in Hays

Delegates representing Kansas' 1st Congressional District at the Republican National Convention will be chosen at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Hays' Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall, 2106 Vine.

Three delegates and three alternates will be chosen.

Meals are $12. Those who plan to attend should call 1st District Chairman Randy Duncan at (785) 825-8859 for a reservation.

Class on CPR rescheduled

An introduction and update program on CPR, defibrillation and first-aid, originally scheduled for Saturday, has been rescheduled to 1:30 to 4 p.m. June 28 at University United Methodist Church, Santa Fe and Claflin.

The presentation will be made by the American Red Cross.

Deadline today for dress donations

Today is the deadline for dropping off prom dresses as part of Prom-A-Rama, which is a way to donate prom dresses to girls who might not otherwise be able to obtain one.

Dresses can be dropped off at the YMCA, 570 YMCA Drive; Girl Scouts, 1550 S. Broadway; any Sunflower Bank location; or South, Central, Ell-Saline or Southeast of Saline high schools.

The give-away will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 111 W. Magnolia.

To receive a dress, the girl needs to attend the give-away and provide proof of being a high school student. There will be volunteers to help participants find a dress to their liking, and seamstresses will be available to make alterations or repairs.
