Hawks finish season at 35-13

MANHATTAN -- The Salina Hawks batted around, scored five runs in the seventh inning and had the tying run at the plate before dropping the American Legion Class A Zone 3 championship game to Manhattan Manko, 12-8 at Norvell Field.

Travis Dolan hit a two-run double earlier in the seventh and in his second plate appearance of the inning, struck out to end the game.

Trey Dallas led Hawk hitters with three singles. Dolan and Clay Koochel both had two hits.

Vince Froome took the loss, striking out four in 5 2/3 innings.

The Hawks ended their season at 35-13.

"I feel bad for the kids, we should be one of the top three teams in the state," Hawks' coach Dee Kolzow said. "Too bad we were in the same zone with Manko, they beat us four times, they should win it."
