Officers say suspect tried to flush evidence
Officers checking a tip about possible drug activity burst through the door of an apartment Thursday and found their suspect attempting to flush the evidence, police said.
Neighbors called police because they noticed a chemical smell coming from 116 W. Jewell, Apt. A, according to Lt. Jim Norton, commander of the I-135/I-70 Drug Task Force. After forcing their way into the apartment, Norton said, officers found William H. Zugg in the bathroom. They found, in the toilet, about 3 grams of methamphetamine, which has a street value of about $350, and $359 in cash.
In the apartment, officers also found items used to make meth, including denatured alcohol, solvent, acetone, jars with clear liquid believed to be anhydrous ammonia, coffee filters with a paste residue, aluminum foil and glass dishes.
Zugg was arrested on numerous drug charges.
