Saturday's county sports


KASZYCKI, WEATHERD WIN LEAGUE -- At Wichita, Salina Central's Julia Kaszycki and Ashley Weatherd won individual events Saturday to lead the Salina contingent at the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League swimming and diving championships.

Kaszycki swam a 1:05.17 to win the 100-yard butterfly by more than one-and-a-half seconds over Hutchinson's Sarah Hooker. Weatherd was the champion in the diving competition with a score of 314.80, followed by Central teammate Bronte Doughman in second.

Kaszycki also took second in the 50 freestyle, where Salina South's Morgan Brotton had her team's best showing with a third-place finish. Central's Melanie Miller also took third in the 100 breaststroke.

Central finished fourth in the team standings with 152 points, while South was fifth with 141.
