Brown Mackie done

BROWN MACKIE'S SEASON ENDS -- At Altus, Okla., the Brown Mackie College baseball team suffered back-to-back losses at the NJCAA Division II Southwest District Tournament on Thursday.

The Lions fell to Phoenix College in the opener, 10-2, and were knocked out of the double-elimination tournament with a 13-0 defeat at the hands of Western State Oklahoma. Both games ended by the run rule -- the opener in seven innings and the finale in six.

Brown Mackie was unable to muster much offense in either contest. August LeBlanc had half of his team's four hits in the opener when he went 2-for-3. The Lions trailed 9-0 before scoring twice in the top of the seventh, with both runs scoring on a Phoenix error.

Western Oklahoma State bolted to a quick 7-0 lead after two innings in the second contest. The Lions were again held to four hits, with Jay Hall going 2-for-2. Hall's double was the team's lone extra base hit on the day.

Brown Mackie (9-33) did not have an error in either contest. Avery Bailey took the loss for the Lions in the opener and Cynova was the team's pitcher of record in the second contest.
