The Kansas Corporation Commission is accepting written comments through June 16 from Midwest Energy customers concerning a proposed electric service rate increase.
Midwest Energy is seeking to raise rates about $10 million, or 10 percent. The utility, headquartered in Hays, serves about 48,000 customers. The cooperative's last rate increase was in 2003, when it was granted a $600,000 rate increase.
Written comments should reference Docket No. 08-MDWE-594-RTS and may be e-mailed to public.affairs@kcc.ks.gov or mailed to the Kansas Corporation Commission, Office of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, 1500 SW Arrowhead Road, Topeka, KS. 66604.
