Police investigate car vandalism

Police investigate car vandalism

A vandalism spree caused thousands in damage to cars that were parked in west central Salina over the weekend.

Salina Police investigating the cases reported it appears someone took a rail from a split-rail fence at 217 W. Jewell and used it to shatter vehicle windows and, in at least one instance, dent the door of a 2002 Mercury Cougar belonging to Justin Lee Montgomery, causing $200 damage.

Others whose vehicles were damaged in the 200 block of West Jewell and the 1800 block of Highland included a Jeep Cherokee belonging to Marc R. Sheforgen, $1,200 damage; a Ford F250 pickup truck belonging to Bradley K. Ernzen, $820 damage; and a Ford F150 pickup truck belonging to Phil J. Malin, $600 damage. Police say the damage happened generally between 2:45 and 3:13 a.m. Sunday.
