Relay for Life event to be run Saturday

The youth of Relay for Life of Saline County will have its sixth annual Relay for Life event from 6 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday at Salina Stadium.

The event is sponsored by the American Cancer Society.

Representing 21 teams are high school students from Salina South, Salina Central, Sacred Heart, Ell-Saline, Southeast of Saline, St. John's Military and Smoky Valley schools.

The event will be open to the public until 11 p.m.; after 11 p.m., the event will be a lock-in for the student teams.

Spring job festival set for April 30

Job-seekers looking for work in and around Salina are invited to the KansasWORKS Spring Job Festival from 3 to 7 p.m. April 30 at the National Guard Armory, 1127 Armory Road.

On hand will be more than 25 of the region's leading employers. The event is free. Job-seekers should attend with a resume and be prepared to fill out employment applications.

Attendees will also have access to the KansasWorks Mobile Center, an RV equipped with computer workstations for job-seekers to update their resume and search online job listings.

Brown Mackie to graduate 75

About 75 graduates are expected to walk at graduation ceremonies Saturday for Brown Mackie College-Salina.

The ceremony is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. at the Bicentennial Center, with Brown Mackie College-Salina president Judy Holmes and valedictorian Jay Hall addressing the graduates.
