K-State to break ground on stadium project
MANHATTAN -- Kansas State football nostalgia buffs may want to take a good, long look at the exterior of Snyder Family Stadium before the annual Purple-White spring game.
By the time they return in the fall, the west side will resemble a construction site.
K-State announced Friday that the new West Stadium Center project will officially get under way with a groundbreaking ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on April 28, preceding the 1 p.m. spring game.

Kansas State embarks on search for new hoops coach
John Currie knows he faces the biggest task of his professional career in replacing Frank Martin, the now-former basketball coach of Kansas State whose bigger-than-life aura and on-court success made the Wildcats relevant again.
It's a task the third-year athletic director plans to tackle quietly.
"The opportunity that exists here is tremendous. We have the resources to enable our next coach to build a sustainable, winning basketball program," Currie said earlier this week. "We have everything a coach needs to win."
'Cat Aftermath: Currie insists he, Martin had 'strong relationship'
MANHATTAN -- Frank Martin stood at a podium Tuesday morning in Columbia, S.C., more than 900 miles away, calling his decision to leave Kansas State, "the most difficult thing I've ever had to do in my life."
It was no day at the beach for K-State administrators either, trying to explain in their own press conference how their most successful basketball coach of the past 20-plus years got away.
Both athletic director John Currie and university president Kirk Schulz dismissed widespread reports that a contentious relationship with Currie led Martin to bolt a K-State program he rebuilt into a consistent winner in five years as head coach. Meanwhile, Currie said his "sole focus," is finding a worthy replacement to lead the Wildcats in the future.
