We have watched for a couple months now a Robin build her nest and then hatch 3 baby birds. The nest is located in our maple tree adjacent to our house. It is only 6-8 feet from our bay window in our dining room and at about eye level. Attached are a couple of photos. The mother works her tail off feeding her young. She is constantly flying back and forth with food. It''s been fun to watch.

First Swallowtail Sighting
Submitted by: Mark Neubrand
I spotted my first Black Swallowtail butterfly in my backyard. I have planted Curled Parsley for them to lay eggs on and this little lady has stayed through through the rain in a parsley heaven. Looking forward to raising a new generation and sending them on to your yards!

The Smoky Hill Audubon Society met in April at the Carver Center. They were visited by a Turkey Vulcher named "Lurch" from the Milford Nature Center. Other visitors included a skunk and a snake. All part of the "untouchables" evening. The Smoky Hill Audubon group meets every Third Thursday of the Month except during the summer.
