Carl A. Tillberg
Carl A. Tillberg, 81, of Salina, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009. He was born the son of Andrew and Esther (Shublom) Tillberg on April 19, 1928, in Salina. He was a farmer and stockman in Saline County all of his life. He was member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ell-Saline School Board, and the board of Hedville Grain and Feed Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed singing in Handel's "Messiah" and his church choir. Carl married Doris (Nelson) Tillberg on Aug. 25, 1963. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and an infant sister, Ruby Marie.
Survivors include a son, Alan and wife Mindy, of Minneapolis; two daughters, Pam McClure and husband Greg, of Manhattan, and Ingrid Oen and husband Scott, of Topeka; two brothers, Donald and wife Dannie and Norman, both of Salina; two sisters, Arline Metzger and husband Cliff, of Salina, and Gertrude Chaney and husband Jack, of Bennington; 11 grandchildren, Jacob, Tyler, Krystene, Chris, Joey, Luke, Olivia, Kelsey, Morgan, Samantha and Ryan.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with burial in Gypsum Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ryan Mortuary, and the family will greet visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial gifts are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church Foundation.
