Cloris L. Adams

TESCOTT -- Cloris L. Adams, 83, of Tescott, passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis. She was born Sept. 4, 1928, in Lincoln County to Arthur and Alta (Cassel) Rees.

Ivan Adams and Cloris were united in marriage on May 20, 1945, in Beverly, and he preceded her in death on May 22, 2004. Cloris worked as a CNA at the former Crestview Nursing Home and was a homemaker. She was also a member of Tescott United Methodist Church.

Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Arthur Stanley Rees; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Huiett.

Survivors include her children, Leroy Adams and wife Deanna "Dee," Donald Adams and wife Lila, and Madonna Huiett, all of Tescott; brother, Harvey Rees and wife Ramona, of Beverly; sister, Yolanda Dow, of El Reno, Okla.; sister-in-law, Carol Rees, of Huntington Beach, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis, where the family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Tescott United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery, Tescott. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or the Ottawa County Health Center Long Term Care.

David Lee Allen III

David Lee Allen III, 47, of Salina, passed away Monday, Jan. 30, at his home.

David was born in Fremont, Calif., on March 2, 1964, to Ophelia (Marroquin) Allen and the late David L. Allen Jr.

He was the husband of Sandra S. (McLean) Allen. They were married April 14, 1988, in Mesa Ariz.

David is survived by his mother; his wife, Sandra, of the home; sons, Gabriel Allen, of Assaria, and Travis Allen, of Salina; daughter, Kristina Allen, of Salina; brother, Jimmy Allen, of Rose Hill; sister, Gabriella Carter, of Salina; brother-in-law, Butch Carter, of Salina; as well as many friends and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Cremation has been chosen and there will be no visitation. A celebration of David's life will be at his sister Gabby's house Saturday, Feb. 4, beginning at 11 a.m. David's family would like to encourage everyone to wear their Harley Davidson or Oakland Raiders attire to the celebration.

Gerold L. Anspaugh

NEWTON -- Gerold Leroy Anspaugh, 72, of Newton, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012. He was born Oct. 19, 1939, to Lyle Arthur and Carrie Daisy Essig Anspaugh. Gerold was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry, on Dec. 17, 2011, and his parents.

Survivors include his daughter, Gerri Lankton, of Denton, Texas; stepson, Tony (Tyla) VanPelt, of Wichita; brothers, James Anspaugh, of Garden City, and Russell Anspaugh, of Salina; sisters, Fern Dolezal, of Ellsworth, Maryln Swenson, of Concordia, and Jeniece Kinnan, of Las Vegas; and five grandchildren. Nathan E. Barnhart

HOXIE -- Nathan E. Barnhart, 19, of Hoxie, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012. He was born Jan. 7, 1993, to Wesley Flinn and Dee Anna Barnhart. He is survived by his mother, Dee Anna (Brad) Yowell; father, Wesley (Rhonda); brothers, Rickie and Joel Bose; stepbrothers, Wesley and Anthony Gilliland; sister, Bridgitte Schlereth; stepsister, Trista Gilliland; grandparents, Shirley Barnhart, Marice and Janice Barnhart, and Arnold and Belva Flinn. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at Bateman Funeral Home, Goodland. Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Emma Crook

Emma Crook, 92, of Salina, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012. Ryan Mortuary, Salina, is handling arrangements.

Dillon D. Garrison

MANHATTAN -- Dillon D. Garrison, 21, of Manhattan, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012. He was born Dec. 7, 1990, to Roger and Kimberly Garrison. He was a member of the NRA and the Geary County Fish and Game Association. For the past year, he had worked for Caterpillar Machine in Wamego. He is survived by his father, of Junction City; his mother, of Chapman; one sister, Taylor Garrison; and one brother, Ryan, both of Junction City. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. today with family receiving friends at 6 p.m. at Londeen Funeral Chapel, Chapman. Service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel.

Memorials may be given to Dillon Garrison Memorial Fund, in care of the chapel.

Donald Adair Goetz

HALLETTSVILLE, Texas -- Donald Adair Goetz, 76, passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2012. He was born Nov. 16, 1935, to William and Helen Herman Goetz in Victoria, Kan.

Don was active in the oil field work and had lived overseas for a number of years. He came to Hallettsville, started Goetz Service in 1979 and ran it for 24 years. He also enjoyed working on his farm and going fishing.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; infant son; and sister, Arlene Sturman. Don is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jackie; children, Don Goetz and wife Dorthy, of Giddings, Texas, Jaylene Franke, of Paige, Texas, and Janna Johnson and husband Craig, of Kingland, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Wagner and Gloria Teal, of Russell, Kan.; and brother, Bill Goetz, of Houston.

Visitation will be from 9-10:45 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary and Monuments, Russell. A graveside service to honor Don's life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Russell. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked people to give to the charity or organization of their choice and send in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.

Sarah Wyatt Grant

TOPEKA -- Sarah Wyatt Grant, 77, of Topeka, passed away after a short illness on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012. She was born June 25, 1934, the daughter of Wendell Chambers Wyatt and Doris Stewart Wyatt, of Salina. Sarah was a graduate of Salina High School and attended Kansas Wesleyan University. She married her husband of 56 years, Norman Charles "Bud" Grant, on May 14, 1954, after which she made her living as a wife, mother and homemaker. She devoted her free time as a member of several organizations, including the John Haupt Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, PEO and Countryside United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Sanctuary Choir. She was also an active volunteer with Let's Help, the Every Woman's Resource Center and Avondale West Elementary School Library, as well as in several capacities for Countryside United Methodist Church. Sarah is survived by her husband, Bud Grant, of Topeka; mother, Doris Wyatt, of Salina; daughters, Kimberly (Ron) Soldani and Shelley (Malcolm) Copeland, and son, Todd Grant, all of Topeka; and sister, Barbara (Gerry) Rosenlund, of Florence, S.C. She is also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at Countryside United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be given to Countryside United Methodist Church, 3221 S.W. Venita L. Houchin

WaKEENEY -- Venita L. Houchin, 75, of WaKeeney, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012. She was born Dec. 22, 1936, to Foster and Leoti (Hall) Newland. She is survived by her sons, Doug Norris, of WaKeeney, Todd Norris, of Hays, and Phil Norris, of Manhattan; daughter, Terri Johnson, of Kansas City, Kan.; nine grandchildren; two stepgranchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren. Edna Kruckenberg

WILSON -- Edna Kruckenberg, 89, of Wilson, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012. She was born Oct. 21, 1922. She is survived by her daughters, Norma Hidge, of Salina, Jo Ann Srna, of Salina, and Vickie Steinle, of Dorrance; one brother, Bill Schmidt, of Dorrance; and sisters, Leona Herpel, of Wilson, and Helen Ginther, of Ellsworth; nine grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Foster Mortuary, Wilson, and noon to service time Saturday at First Lutheran Church, Dorrance. Russell Gregory Layton

GLENDORA, Calif. -- Russell Gregory Layton, 25, son of Greg and Loretta Layton, died Jan. 11, 2012. He graduated from Glendora High School in 2005, and Northwest Lineman College in Oroville, Calif., in 2010. He worked for Houston Texas Line and Pole as a transmission lineman in Ada, Okla., at the time of his death. Left to grieve for him are his parents; grandparents, Dennis and Nancy Layton, and Dan and Rosemary Rodriguez; and numerous relatives and friends. Funeral services were Jan. 23, with burial in Oakdale Cemetery in Glendora. God called him home too soon. We will forever love and miss him.

Elfriede Mai

WaKEENEY -- Elfriede Mai, 90, of WaKeeney, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012. She was born Sept. 11, 1921, in Palmer to William and Marie Meier. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; two brothers; and three sisters. She is survived by her sons, John, of Salina, and Bruce, of WaKeeney; daughters, Carolyn Green, of Greenville, N.C., and Pam Kearby, of Littleton, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. There will be no visitation. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at Zion Lutheran Church, Trego Center. COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Cora Frances Manlove, 95, of Colorado Springs, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2012. Foster Mortuary, Wilson, is handling arrangements.

Louella Joy Mayes

Louella Joy Mayes, of Salina, entered into eternal rest on Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at the age of 76. She was born June 17, 1935, in Herington to Henry Ernst Wilhelm and Anna Louise Barre Brockmeier. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe A. Mayes; parents; sister, Erma Mills; and brothers, Milton and Herbert Brockmeier. Louella is survived by her daughters, Debra Mayes, Jody Garcia and Elizabeth (Michael) Wergin; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a sister, Frieda Farrar; a brother-in-law, Wayne Mills; and numerous nieces and nephews. Chapel services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at Roselawn Mortuary, Salina. Interment will immediately follow in Roselawn Cemetery.

Reuben McCornack

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Reuben McCornack, 69, died Jan. 6, 2012, after a heroic eight-year battle against Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), a degenerative neurological disorder. Son of the late Reuben McCornack, of Coffeyville, and Lenore McCornack Duffy; stepson of the late Francis Duffy; and brother of the late Mary Ann McCornack Ewert. Survived by wife, Kathleen O'Reilly, of Washington, D.C.; son, Andrew McCornack, of New York City; brother, Don Duffy; and sister-in-law, Linda Emig Duffy, of Seal Beach, Calif.

Reuben thoroughly enjoyed visiting with Abilene High School's class of 1960 classmates at their 50th reunion in 2010. A graduate of the University of Kansas, where he served as president of the student body, Reuben was a political activist and grass-roots organizer, who devoted much of his early professional career advancing policies of nuclear nonproliferation and peaceful conflict resolution. In the last decades, he developed dozens of sites in the greater Washington, D.C., area that provide affordable housing for those with physical or mental challenges, low-income senior citizens and others with special needs. Reuben will be remembered for his leadership, genuine friendship with classmates, and passion for learning and adventure.

A funeral liturgy and memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at Plymouth Congregational Church, Washington, D.C. CORSICA, Pa. -- Anna P. Rankin, 89, formerly of Hays, Kan., resident died Jan. 17, 2012. Anna was born May 28, 1922, to Fred and Maude (Haggerty) Glenn. She was preceded by her husband, Arthur; her son, Larry; two brothers, Paul and Harry Glenn; and three sisters, Bernice Smith, Carolyn Wachob and Wilta Lasher. Gary V. Riedy

ABILENE -- Gary V. Riedy, 62, died Jan. 29, 2012. He was born April 9, 1949, to Edwin V. and Beatrice Riedy.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; his mother; sons, Casey, Renae and Cody; brothers, Glen and Lyle; sisters, Joyce Ann Martinez, Carol L. Kellogg and Linda C. Riedy; and five grandchildren. There will be a rosary at 6:30 p.m. today at Carlson-Becker Funeral Home, Hope, with the family receiving friends immediately following. The Rev. Hubert Dewitt Robinson

The Rev. Hubert Dewitt Robinson was born April 28, 1952, in Boca Raton, Fla., to the union of Tonise Lee Quinn Robinson and M C Robinson. He was preceded in death by both parents; his older brother, Vivan Hugh Robinson; and grandson, Jordan Reeves.

The Rev. Hubert D. Robinson lived his life between Salina and Boca Raton, Fla. He was involved in many Christian activities, as well as mentoring the word of God in Salina and Florida. Hubert was a minister at the Evangelism Ministry of Boca Raton.

Mr. Robinson was a solider of the U.S. Army, where he served his country proudly for several years. Upon leaving the service, he worked for Schwann's Industries, also known as Tony's Pizza manufacturing, for many years.

God called him home Friday, Jan. 27, 2012. He leaves to cherish his three daughters, Vonetta E. Robinson-Davis, of Salina, Alicia L. Robinson, of Salina, and Alisha E. Robinson, of Boca-Raton; four sisters, Sheila Frazier, of Houston, Beverly Williams, of Pompano, Fla., Tangela Cox, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Ellinta Joyner, of Atlanta; brother, Lenzer Burton, of Coral Springs, Fla; six grandchildren, Tre Drake, Valenicia and Davonte Medina, Kendrick, Kameron and Kiara Reeves; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, Salina, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, with Pastor Stephen Davison officiating.

Ralph F. Wade

COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. -- Ralph F. Wade, 92, formerly of McPherson, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012. He was born Aug. 29, 1919, in Conway, Kan., to Froland W. and Ethel Blanche (Haulman) Wade. He is survived by his two sons, Ralph F. Wade Jr., of Edgewater, Colo., and Terrance (Ann) Wade, of Longmont, Colo.; two sisters, Vivian Clark and Catherine McCartney, both of Wichita; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Service will be at 2 p.m Monday, Feb. 6, at McPherson Cemetery. A private family visitation will take place prior to the service. Donald G. Weigel

Donald Gene Weigel, 82, of Salina, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2012. He was born Feb. 24, 1929, in Hays, the son of Marcus and Sophia (Nowak) Weigel. Don graduated from St. Joseph's Military Academy in Hays, and retired after 37 years as a Dillon's grocer. He married Charlene Walters on Nov. 15, 1949, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Hays, and they celebrate 62 years of marriage. He loved his wife and family and sports.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and three brothers. He is survived by his wife, Charlene, of the home; two daughters, Kathleen Weigel, of Topeka, and Karen Beil, of Olathe; and two sons, Donald (Mary) Weigel, of Hutchinson and Dennis Weigel, of Salina.

Don has surviving brothers, Duane (Marlene), of Hays, Dennis (Paula), of Adair, Iowa, Mark (Pauline), of Hays, and Robert (Carol), of Lawrence; and four sisters, Charlotte Jacobs, of Hays, Donna (Delaine) Meyers, of Great Bend, Carol Brungardt, of Wichita, and Cheryl (Joe) Engle, of Hays. He has nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina. Vigil services will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, where friends may call from noon-8:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's Parish.
