MONTICELLO, Ark. - Luther Ray Hines Sr., 68, passed away Jan. 26, 2012, at Drew Memorial Hospital. He was born April 28, 1943, in Lake Village, Ark.
He was a retired truck driver and heavy equipment operator, a U.S. Army Veteran of Vietnam and a Baptist. He was the son of the late Charlie Lee Hines and Gladys Missouri (Fowler) Hines and was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; one son, John Rayl; two brothers, Charles and Orville Hines; and two sisters, Mary and Carmen Hines. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and loved to cook and barbecue.
Survivors include three sons, Luke Hines, of Monticello, Fred Harrison, of Nebraska, and Henry Harrison, of Falun; two daughters, Donna Lisewski, of Lincoln, Kan., and Teresa Hines, of El Dorado; three brothers, Leonard Hines, of Florida, William Hines, of Hot Springs, Ark., and Ted Hines, of California; one sister, Grace (Hines) Summit, of Hot Springs; and eight grandchildren, Regan, Richard, Forest, Aaron, Ricky, Melissa, Charisa and Michael; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Jan. 30, at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial in Lone Sassafras Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Ray Payne and the Rev. Phillip Payne officiated at the services. Active pallbearers were William Spears, Tim Bodiford, Charles Carrington, Kenny Lloyd, Bobby David, Kent Goudy and Randa Lampkin.
