VIENNA, Va. - Janet Kay (Keeler) Lockard passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, in Vienna, Va. Janet was born Oct. 28, 1941, in Salina to Clifford and Helen (McKinney) Keeler. Janet attended Salina schools and graduated from Salina High School with the class of 1959. She graduated from Bethany College in 1963, with a bachelor of arts degree.
During high school and college, she worked at Dillons Grocery on South Ninth, in Salina. She married Daniel W. Lockard on June 9, 1963, in Salina. From 1963-1973, they made their home in the suburbs of St. Louis, where Janet raised a family and taught elementary school. In 1965-66, she attended the University of Virginia, in Charlottesville, Va., earning a master of education degree. In 1973, they moved to Vienna, Va., where Janet raised her family, taught school and worked as a clerk in Bloomingdale’s Department Store. Beginning in 1981, she worked at Central Intelligence Agency at Langley, retiring in 1994.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Dick Becker. She is survived by her husband, Dan, of Vienna; and three sons, Brentley, of Vienna, Cameron, of Richmond, Va., and Aaron and wife, Joann, of Lorton, Va. Survivors also include her five grandchildren, Nicholas and Ryan, of Strasburg, Va., Caitlin, Alexandra and Virgina Grace, all of Lorton, Va.; and two sisters-in-law, Sheri Becker, of Salina, and Susan Wright, of Cambria, Calif.
Janet was cremated. A funeral service was held in Vienna on Feb. 5. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park on Wednesday, Feb. 15, with Pastor Troy Bowers officiating.
