PLAINVILLE - The funeral Mass for Father Galen Long, 67 of Plainville, and formerly of Beloit, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with burial in St. John’s Cemetery. Father Long died Tuesday at Salina Regional Health Center. He was pastor at Sacred Heart Parish, Plainville, and St. Thomas Parish, Stockton. He previously served at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina, as associate pastor. He had served at St. Mary’s, Ellis; Sacred Heart, Colby; Sacred Heart, Salina; St. Boniface, Tipton, with Sts. Peter and Paul, Cawker City; Sacred Heart, Atwood, with Assumption of Mary Parish, Herndon, and St. John’s Parish, Beardsley.
Survivors are brothers Donald, of Arvada, Colo., Charles, of Beloit, Bob, of Bella Vista, Ariz., Father Melvin Long, of Palm Springs, Calif., Carl, of Benton, Ark.; a sister, Joyce Highland, of Beloit; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Father Long will lie in state from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Friday at McDonald Funeral Home. The Parish vigil and rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the church. Memorials may be given to Sacred Heart Grade School, Plainville.
