Coach Steve Lampe, Northwest Tech Athletic Director and Wrestling Coach is launching the first ever wrestling team at Northwest Tech this week with practice in motion.  Northwest Tech is honored to be able to offer students the talents of a seasoned coach, educator and mentor.

Coach Lampe was pleased to announce the following students as part of the wrestling team:  Daniel Gomez, Wamego, Kansas; Danny Floyd, Osborne, Kansas; Jackie Reed,  Pretty Prairie, Kansas; Taylor Wuthrow, Abilene, Kansas; Loyd O’Neal, Goodland, Kansas; Lorenzo Delgado, Goodland, Kansas; Caleb Crump, Tucson, Arizona; Ricardo Valdez, Rio Rico, Arizona; Anthony Pike, Tucson, Arizona; Nicholas Gonzalez, Tucson, Arizona; Alex Akers, Tucson, Arizona; Diego Bravo, Tucson, Arizona; Jaime Sierra, Tucson, Arizona; Dan Frann, Johnstown, Colorado; Brandon Downing, Lamar, Colorado; Tyler Hill, Tallahassee, Florida; Chad Kochenower, Kingfisher, Oklahoma; and Aliev Daulet, Nukus, Uzbekistan, Russia.

“I am excited about the quality of wrestlers we have this season—they are from across the Country; but I know this community will make them feel right at home.” said Coach Lampe.
Coaches Brenda and Lester Cress (Rodeo) and Coach Travis Jones (Golf) have also started practices for their teams.  Northwest Tech has been on the cutting edge of technology by offering an iPad as part of the enrollment package to each student; but Northwest Tech has also been very innovative in other areas.  They are the first technical college in the State of Kansas to offer collegiate sports.  “We feel that not only will this be good for the college; but also for the Community:, said Dr. Ed Mills.

In an effort to support our athletic teams, the  first-ever “Maverick Madness” Golf Challenge will be held on Saturday, August 28 at Sugar Hills Golf Club.  For more information on Northwest Tech athletic programs, go to HYPERLINK "http://www.nwktc.edu"www.nwktc.edu or call Coach Steve Lampe at 1-800 -316-4127.
