Authorities find truck used to steal ATM

A stolen white pickup truck that police believe was used in the theft of an ATM at a Salina convenience store was recovered Thursday in rural Saline County.
The 1989 Chevrolet truck, which belonged to Kirk H. Stricker, was stripped down to the frame and wheels and was located near Salina Concrete Supply on property at 1332 W. North, said Capt. Brian Shea of the Saline County Sheriff’s Office.
The ATM was stolen in the early morning hours of Oct. 19. Two people used the truck to smash through the front of Rod’s Total, 1339 N. Ninth, and used a chain to drag the machine out.
The ATM was located about a week later by some youths who were walking on railroad tracks in north Salina. The machine had been destroyed and all of the cash had been removed. It was located about halfway between a building at 605 W. North and some railroad tracks running behind the property, Salina Deputy Police Chief Carson Mansfield said at the time.

Sherlock says....
Let's see. The ATM was found on West North and the truck was found on West North. I wonder if the thieves live near West North?

Barney says....
Wow, that was speedy. Took 3 weeks to find the demolished vehicle in the city limits of Salina?
