Rural Gypsum man hurt in tractor wreck

A rural Gypsum man who suffered a broken pelvis when his tractor rolled, pinning him underneath, was in satisfactory condition Wednesday at Salina Regional Health Center.
Jarrod A. Johnson, 38, was been moving dirt in the bucket of his older style International tractor at 4:53 p.m. Sunday at his home at 7030 E. K-4 Highway when the tractor tipped over on a sloped area, according to a Saline County Sheriff’s Office report.
When his wife, Natalie, arrived home from the grocery store and walked out to bring him a bottle of water, she saw the tractor was overturned, said Jarrod’s mother, Jerri Johnson.
Jarrod told Natalie he had been trapped about two minutes, and gave her instructions about how to find and use a floor jack to move the tractor off him, Jerri Johnson said.
“It’s amazing what you can do when you have to,” Jerri Johnson said. “She’s a pretty brave little gal.”
Jerri Johnson said the couple’s 2-year-old son, Ryder, had been riding with his father on the tractor, but Jarrod was able to throw him clear when he realized the tractor was about to overturn. Ryder was not injured.
