LUCAS — A Lucas-Luray High School teacher was arrested Thursday on a charge alleging she had a sexual relationship with one of her male students.
According to a news release from the Russell County Sheriff’s Office, the student’s parents called the sheriff’s office on Jan. 20 and alleged that their son had been having a sexual relationship with Nina Urban, of Lucas.
After a nine-day investigation by the sheriff’s office and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, an arrest warrant was issued Thursday.
Urban, who turned herself in to the sheriff’s custody, is facing a charge of unlawful sexual relations. She posted a $10,000 bond and was released, according to the press release. Urban has been placed on administrative leave from her teaching post.
