Former teacher sentenced to probation for unlawful sexual relations
3/2/2010
RUSSELL — A former teacher at Lucas-Luray High School has been sentenced to probation, after pleading guilty late last year to having sex with a student.
Nina Urban taught English at the high school, which she graduated from in 2002. She was charged in late January of 2009 with having a sexual relationship with a student at the school, after the student’s parents called the Russell County Sheriff’s Office a few days earlier.
The school district placed her on administrative leave, and she resigned in April.
In November, she pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful sexual relations, a low-level felony, and two other counts were dismissed.
Russell County Attorney Daniel Krug said probation was the presumptive sentence for unlawful sexual relations.
