BELOIT — Joe Studer was sentenced Thursday to 12 months of supervised probation for four misdemeanors stemming from the Aug. 21 hazing of a Beloit High School freshman football player, said Mitchell County Attorney Mark Noah.
Studer, a senior at the high school, applied a muscle relaxant gel to the body of the freshman football player in a locker room, injuring him.
Studer pleaded guilty Sept. 9 to one count each of criminal restraint, theft, battery and assault.
District Magistrate Judge Bonnie Wilson also ordered Studer to perform 20 hours of community service, submit a letter of apology to the victim, and with the school district’s permission, prepare and present a program on bullying to Beloit Junior-Senior High School, Noah said.
Included in the sentence was a 12-month curfew restricting Studer to his home between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., seven days a week, Noah said.
“Justice was done. I think the judge did a good job,” Noah said.
