Salina police on Monday released more details concerning the stabbing of a 23-year-old pregnant woman Saturday.
The emergency call came into police about a domestic disturbance involving a car at Ohio and Kirwin. An officer arrived at 824 E. Kirwin to find the rear passenger window shattered on a 1994 Subaru, said Deputy Police Chief Carson Mansfield.
Amber Knopf, 23, of 824 E. Kirwin, who is 51/2 months pregnant, was holding her rib cage due to a stab wound from a steak knife, which was recovered at the scene, Mansfield said. Knopf said she had been stabbed by the father of her baby, Adam Aurenheimer, of Salina. Mansfield said Aurenheimer is also accused of kicking Knopf in the face.
Mansfield said Aurenheimer and Knopf had argued, and Aurenheimer had allegedly used a baseball bat and limb from the yard of the residence to damage two mailboxes and shatter windows on two other vehicles.
Mansfield said Aurenheimer is facing charges that include one count of attempted second-degree murder, one count of domestic violence battery, and four counts misdemeanor damage to property for the mailboxes and the vehicles.
