Brookville man sentenced to more than three years

1/11/2010

A Brookville man was sentenced Friday in Saline County District Court to three years and five months in prison for two counts of reckless aggravated battery and one count of unlawful use of a weapon.
Steven H. Weis Jr., 26, who was found guilty by a jury in November, will appear at a separate hearing at 3 p.m. Jan. 25 to determine the amount of restitution he will be ordered to pay.
The state is seeking more than $124,200 for medical bills incurred by two men who were injured with a knife in the early morning hours of July 13, 2008, in the 800 block of Sherman Street.
Anthony Napoleone was paralyzed from the chest down after a knife tip became lodged in his spine, and Thomas Nece suffered extensive cuts in the confrontation, according to evidence presented at trial.
Weis was ordered to pay a $100 DNA analysis fee and $800 for Kansas Bureau of Investigation expenses related to the case.
