Russell man hurt in crash

A Russell man was injured in a two-vehicle crash about 8 p.m. Wednesday just east of the Russell exit.
Kenneth Franklin Phillips, 82, of Russell, was westbound on Interstate Highway 70 when a vehicle he was passing swerved and struck his car, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report.
Phillips was taken to Russell Regional Hospital. It was not known if he was wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP report.
The driver of the second vehicle, Seth Tyson Schulte, 26, of Victoria, was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.

This article is completely misleading. Mr. Phillips was indeed westbound on I-70. However, he was westbound in the EASTBOUND lane. He was going the wrong direction on the interstate. The writer of this "article" needs to check his/her facts.

I think this report may be erroneous. My understanding is that Mr. Phillips was going the wrong way on I70 and my nephew and others were fortunate not to be injured.
