Building inspector leaving city post

11/3/2009

The city of Salina is seeking a new chief building construction inspector because of the upcoming departure of Mike Roberts as the city’s building official.
Because of confidentiality regulations regarding personnel matters, City Manager Jason Gage said he could not comment on reasons for Roberts’ departure. Roberts is out of the office this week and could not be reached for comment. Roberts is scheduled to leave his post no later than January, Gage said.
The city is advertising the position and has already received more than two dozen applicants, Gary Hobbie, director of community and development services, reported to city commissioners in a memorandum. City officials hope to have a replacement for Roberts working by early January, Hobbie said.
