Donor to Rony fund gets ring back

A woman who accidentally left a ring in a canister of change she donated toward purchase of a new Saline County Sheriff's Office dog was reunited with her jewelry Tuesday morning.

The woman, who gave more than $40 in change toward purchase of a dog to replace Rony, a German shepherd who died in March, said she was pleased that her favorite ring from Mexico had been found, said Sheriff Glen Kochanowski. She wished to remain an anonymous donor,

More then $9,400 has been contributed toward the sheriff's office K-9 fund, and Kochanowski said he has been authorized to proceed with steps to acquire a new dog.

Kochanowski said between $10,000 to $12,000 was needed to fully cover the expenses of purchasing, transporting and training a dog, as well as paying off veterinary bills for Rony.
