Hospice Care of Kansas has hired Nancy Cook as chaplain and bereavement coordinator. As chaplain, Cook is responsible for providing spiritual support to hospice patients and families. In her role as bereavement coordinator, she provides grief and loss counseling.

Val Forrester, registered occupational therapist at Salina Regional Health Center, has recently received credentials from the Hand Therapy Certification Commission as a certified hand therapist.
Certified hand therapists must meet rigid requirements including five years of clinical experience, 4,000 hours in direct practice in hand therapy, and pass a comprehensive test that includes advanced knowledge of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder.
Forrester earned this distinction after completing all required examinations and clinical studies. She has worked at Salina Regional Health Center for 22 years. Appointments for therapy for the hand or arm can be made by calling Salina Regional's outpatient physical therapy Department at 452-6668. A physician's referral is necessary.

Miracle-Ear has presented its highest franchisee award, the Platinum Club, to Mark Kind. Kind, a Dickinson County native, has grown his franchise to be No. 6 in the nation. This franchise covers central and western Kansas, with 14 offices and service centers.
The criteria for the award stems from 89 percent to 100 percent patient satisfaction. Kind's Miracle-Ear franchise award was based upon fitting the correct technology for the appropriate loss and lifestyle, friendly staff, service after the sale, overall product knowledge and ability to fine tune to different listening environments and personalities.
Kind is now seeing new patients in Manhattan weekly at Advanced Dental Arts at the Stone Creek addition, corner of Anderson and Scenic Drive.

Mary Diercks has joined The Bank of Tescott as an assistant vice president and loan officer.
Diercks has 13 years of experience in lending and banking, as well as experience in title work, specializing in escrow and closing. Diercks is currently employed at the bank's 600 S. Santa Fe branch, but she will move to the 2040 S. Ohio branch upon the completion of that building's renovation this spring.
Diercks received a Bachelor of Science in business from Emporia State University.

MOLINE, Ill. -- Randall Hardy, president of Construction Rental, Salina, Kan., has been named to the board of directors of the American Rental Association, an international trade association serving the equipment rental industry worldwide. Hardy assumed the role of Construction and Industrial Services Shared Interest Group (SIG) chairman at the conclusion of The Rental Show 2009, ARA's annual trade show and convention in Atlanta.
The ARA's volunteer board of directors is comprised of 19 representatives including rental business owners and associate members who work with ARA staff to oversee the association and its programs. Each director serves a two- or three-year term, with a third of the members rotating out each year. The purpose of ARA is to promote the success of members and advance the growth of the rental industry.
