Geraldine Ann Brotton

Geraldine Ann (Gerry) Brotton, 78, of Salina, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011, at her residence.

Mrs. Brotton was born July 22, 1932, in Salina, the daughter of Kenneth Colcher and Amelia (Jackson) Carlson. She was a homemaker and a member of United Methodist Church of the Cross, Salina. On June 22, 1952, she married Roy Jay Brotton in Salina.

She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Terry Carsten.

Survivors include her daughter, Deb Carsten, widow of Terry, of Stockton; sons, Rodney Brotton and wife Connie, of Auburn, Wash., James Brotton and wife Jolene, of Bartlesville, Okla.; and seven grandchildren.

Friends are invited to call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, Salina. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 28, at United Methodist Church of the Cross, Salina, with Pastor Greg Lindenberger officiating.

Burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.

Jasper Kendall Grafel

HERNDON -- Jasper Kendall Grafel, 2 months, of Herndon, died Thursday, April 21, 2011. He was the infant son of Benjamin J. and Mariah E. (Jones) Grafel, of Herndon. RUSKIN, Neb. -- Harold Hansen, 93, of Ruskin, died Sunday, April 24, 2011. Survivors: children, Richard Hansen and Val Davis, of Omaha, Carol Fickerscher and husband Dean, of San Antonio, Pat Boozikee and husband Alan, of Ruskin, Gene Hansen and Tami Summers, of San Antonio, Tom Hansen and Terri Greenwood, of Omaha, and daughter-in-law, Karen Hansen, of Omaha; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Edwin Hansen and wife Eleanor, of Wisconsin; and sister-in-law, Ruth Hansen. Eugene F. Herrick

LURAY -- Eugene F. Herrick, 94, of Luray, died Friday, April 22, 2011. He was born Jan. 29, 1917. He was a farmer and a Russell County grader operator. Preceded in death: wife, Stella Herrick, in January 2000. Survivors: daughters, Judith Ann Herrick (Mahdy Khaiyat), of Goleta, Calif., Eugenia Lee (Bruce) Jackson, of Cerritos, Calif., and Nancy Carol (Ben) Callahan, of Aurora, Colo.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren. McPHERSON -- Kathleen M. Honomichl, 89, of McPherson, died Sunday, April 24, 2011. Preceded in death by: her parents, husband and sister, Janice Burgess. Survivors include: son, Gary Honomichl, of Wichita; sister, Verla Whitney, of South Hutchinson; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Bonnie J. Letourneau, 80, of Salina, died Sunday, April 24, 2011. She was born Aug. 3, 1930, in Russell County, the daughter of Adolph and Violet Gebhardt. Preceded in death: husband, Lowell Letourneau, and sister, Helen Ulrich. Survivors: sons, Lane (Penny) Letourneau and their daughter, Laken, and Lex Letourneau; one brother, Edward (Jackie) Gebhardt; three sisters, Marie Bean, Doris (Bob) Raney and Connie (Harold) Vopat; and friend, Charles May. Charles E. Newell

Charles E. Newell, 85, of Salina, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2011. He was born Dec. 13, 1925, in Liberal to Silas and Stella Newell. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a retired U.S. Post Office clerk after 28 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, two stepsons and one stepdaughter.

Survivors include his wife, Marcella "Sally;" daughter, Sheila Killion; three stepdaughters, Carolyn Meerian, Diana Mata and husband Mario, and Joyce Gans and husband Billy.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today, April 26, at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 E. Crawford, Salina. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at the chapel, followed by burial in Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Salina.

Paul John Richardson

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Paul John Richardson, 62, lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, April 23, 2011. He was born Nov. 21, 1948, in Riverside, N.J., to Paul Joseph (deceased) and Sarah Sue Richardson.

Paul lived in Salina from 1967 to 2002. He graduated from Kansas Wesleyan University and earned a master's degree in public health administration from the University of Missouri in Columbia. He retired from the Salina-Saline County Health Department after 31 years, where he served 23 years as administrative director. After retirement, he resided in Myrtle Beach.

He is survived by his mother, Sarah Sue Richardson; sister, Sara "Snooze" Armstrong; and brother, Bob Richardson, all of Myrtle Beach; four children, Corinne Marie Chambers, of Bixby, Okla., and Paul Joseph, Jonathan Robert and Timothy Seth, all of Kansas City; and five grandchildren, Brecken, Kellan, Josie, Ty and Taegan.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Alvin Rickard, 90, of rural Salina, died Monday, April 25, 2011. Ryan Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Dora F. Robertson

GREENSBURG -- Dora F. Robertson, 93, of Greensburg, died Saturday, April 23, 2011. She was born Aug. 24, 1917. Preceded in death: her husband, John Bennett Robertson; son, Jeffrey L. Robertson; and a granddaughter, Dawn Rene Diemart; a brother; and two sisters. Survivers: sons, Jerry (Margaret) Robertson, of Salina, Charles (Mary Grace) Robertson, of Topeka, and Jack B. Robertson, of Wichita; daughter, Peggy (Kenneth) Banta, of Greensburg; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Allan J. "Hoop" Seifert

CLYDE -- Allan J. "Hoop" Seifert, 66, died Sunday, April 24, 2011, at Republic County Hospital, Belleville. He was born Dec. 31, 1944, in Concordia to Andrew F. Seifert, Jr., and Josephine M. (Nault) Seifert.

Allan graduated from Clyde High School in 1963 and then graduated from the Kansas City School of Watchmaking in 1965. He married Ellen Magaw at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde, on June 19, 1965. They lived in Clyde until moving to Wichita, where Allan worked for Helzberg's Jewelers before operating his own watch repair shop out of his home for the next 14 years. He and Ellen returned to Clyde when he took over the operations of Seifert Jewelry in Clyde until 2007. When Allan returned to Clyde, he also began to farm and raise cattle. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Kansas Jewelers Association. Allan enjoyed all types of birds and wildlife but especially purple martins that he built custom birdhouses for over the years. He also enjoyed playing cards with his friends and family. During the past several years, Allan always enjoyed driving the tractor and farming, but his most precious joy were all his grandchildren and their activities and spending time with them. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Survivors include his spouse, Ellen Seifert, Clyde; daughter, Andrea Stovall and husband Dave, of Spring Hill; sons, Vincent Seifert and wife Autumn, of Clyde, and Scott Seifert and wife Dawn, of Clyde; parents, Andrew and Josephine Seifert, of Clyde; brother, David Seifert and wife Shirl, of Sedona, Ariz.; sisters: Jolene Moore and husband Don, of Hays, and Lori Adkins and husband Nick, of Clifton; grandchildren, Shannon and Jakob Stovall, of Spring Hill, Danielle, Taylor, Christian and Gracie Seifert, of Clyde, and Ashley, Andrew, Abbie and Alex Seifert, of Clyde.

Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Chaput Mortuary and then 5:30 p.m. with Rosary to follow at 6 p.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. GROVE, Okla. -- Lorene (Kopsa) Simek, 90, formerly of Cuba, died April 4, 2011. She was born Sept. 25, 1920, to Lodis and Emma (Fisher) Kopsa in Cuba, Kan.

Preceded in death: husband, John; daughter, Janet Simek; and grandson, John Wilkinson.

Survivors: daughters, Judy (John) Beyer, of Grove, and Kaye (Phillip) Wilkinson, of Chanute, Kan.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Emily Boyer, of Belleville, Kan., and Elsie Lawson, of Agenda, Kan.
